There are actually two alternatives. You can reprogram your cellular phone to ignore the network code on the SIM card–this unlocks your phone. Or, you may purchase an already unlocked cell phone.
Most people are more concerned about getting their present cell phone to be active with a different network. Not being computer software engineers, most people will need a little help to reprogram or unlock their cell phones. Happily, the vast majority of cellular phones can be reprogrammed quickly and easily.
To unlock a cell phone you will need to change the program stored in the cellular phone so it will not test for a particular cellular network. This is not as difficult as it seems.
By pressing a certain sequence of keys on the keypad you gain entry to the programming and can change the program so it doesn’t check for a particular carrier. Unfortunately, the program for each manufacturer is different. And, even within similar models from the manufacturer, programs differ slightly.
So, when you wish to unlock your cell phone you\’ll have to know that exact sequence of key presses that work with the model you own. Using an inaccurate sequence of key presses could alter a different part of the program and make your cellular phone totally useless.
